Chasten Gold's Affordable Housing Program connects individuals, families, veterans, seniors, and those experiencing housing instability with trusted housing programs, financial assistance, tenant resources, and homeownership opportunities throughout California. Whether you're searching for your first apartment, facing housing insecurity, or working toward purchasing your first home, we're here to help connect you with the tools and organizations that can support your journey toward housing stability.

Residence

The Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) is the primary affordable housing agency serving the City and County of Sacramento. SHRA administers Housing Choice (Section 8) vouchers, affordable apartment communities, first-time homebuyer assistance, down payment assistance, and housing development programs. The agency also partners with local organizations to expand affordable housing opportunities and strengthen neighborhoods throughout the Sacramento region.

Charming Neighborhood

Sacramento Self-Help Housing works to prevent homelessness by helping individuals and families locate safe, affordable housing while providing supportive services that promote long-term stability. The organization offers housing navigation, rental assistance referrals, landlord mediation, case management, and assistance for seniors, veterans, youth, and people experiencing homelessness. Their goal is to create lasting housing solutions through education and community partnerships.

Modern Residential Complex

CalHFA helps make homeownership more attainable for low- and moderate-income Californians. Through participating lenders, the agency offers affordable mortgages, down payment assistance, closing cost assistance, and educational resources for first-time homebuyers. CalHFA programs have helped thousands of families achieve stable homeownership across California.

The California Department of Housing and Community Development oversees many of California's affordable housing, homelessness prevention, and community development initiatives. HCD funds affordable housing construction, administers housing assistance programs, supports local governments, and provides statewide housing information and resources. The department also offers guidance on housing rights, affordable housing opportunities, and housing development initiatives.

The Housing and Homelessness Division of CDSS administers statewide programs that help families and vulnerable Californians secure and maintain stable housing. Programs include CalWORKs Housing Support, Bringing Families Home, Home Safe, and Housing Disability Advocacy. Services are delivered locally through counties and community organizations to help prevent homelessness and improve housing stability.

NeighborWorks Sacramento provides financial education, foreclosure prevention counseling, first-time homebuyer education, down payment assistance guidance, and neighborhood revitalization services. Their certified housing counselors help individuals improve financial readiness while preparing for successful homeownership. The organization has served Sacramento communities for decades by promoting economic stability through housing.

Mutual Housing California develops and manages affordable apartment communities throughout Northern California. Beyond providing quality housing, the organization offers resident leadership programs, educational opportunities, financial literacy, youth development, and community engagement initiatives. Their mission is to strengthen neighborhoods while helping families achieve long-term housing stability.

Brick House

Mercy Housing is one of the nation's largest nonprofit affordable housing organizations. They develop and manage affordable housing communities for families, seniors, veterans, and individuals with special housing needs. Residents also benefit from supportive services including education, health resources, financial coaching, and community programming designed to promote independence and long-term success.

Urban Housing

Habitat for Humanity California supports local Habitat affiliates throughout the state by expanding affordable homeownership opportunities. Through volunteer partnerships and affordable mortgage programs, eligible families can purchase safe, quality homes while building financial stability. Habitat also provides home repair programs and homeowner education resources.

Residential Construction Site

211 Sacramento is a free community resource that connects residents with housing assistance, emergency shelter, rent and utility assistance, legal aid, food resources, veteran services, healthcare, and social services. Trained specialists help individuals identify programs that match their specific needs and circumstances. It is often one of the fastest ways to locate available housing resources in the Sacramento region.

Living Space

Sacramento Steps Forward coordinates the region's Continuum of Care to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness obtain permanent housing. The organization works with housing providers, service agencies, local governments, and nonprofit organizations to improve housing access and supportive services. They also oversee coordinated entry systems that connect people to appropriate housing resources.

Rebuilding Together Sacramento helps preserve affordable homeownership by providing critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and safety improvements for low-income homeowners, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. Their volunteer-driven programs improve housing quality while allowing residents to remain safely in their homes. The organization also works to strengthen neighborhoods through community revitalization projects.
