About Chasten Gold

Building Stronger Communities.
Creating Brighter Futures.

At Chasten Gold Nonprofit, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, purpose, and hope. As a Sacramento-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening families, advancing environmental justice, and connecting communities with the resources they need to thrive.

Since formally becoming a federally recognized nonprofit in 2019, Chasten Gold has expanded its impact through community outreach, environmental advocacy, educational initiatives, literacy programs, workforce development, and partnerships that improve the quality of life for underserved Californians. While our nonprofit status began in 2019, our commitment to serving others extends back more than two decades through volunteerism, mentorship, and community service. Today, Chasten Gold continues to grow into a trusted community resource hub, helping individuals overcome barriers, discover opportunities, and build healthier, more resilient futures.

Our Core Values

Our Mission

Chasten Gold Nonprofit is committed to advancing environmental health, racial equity, housing stability, and community empowerment across Sacramento and surrounding counties. We work in partnership with residents, organizations, and public agencies to amplify local voices, deliver independent technical assistance, and address systemic barriers through direct service, education, and advocacy. Our focus is to engage and empower impoverished individuals, unhoused veterans, families, youth, and others seeking support by connecting them with trusted resources, educational opportunities, employment services, and programs that strengthen communities throughout California.

Our Vision

We envision a California where every individual has equitable access to education, safe housing, meaningful employment, healthy environments, and the resources needed to reach their fullest potential. Through collaboration, innovation, and compassionate service, we strive to build stronger communities where every person has the opportunity to succeed.

Why "Chasten Gold"?

Our name reflects the very heart of our mission.

To chasten means to train, educate, guide, and strengthen someone so they may become better than they were before. Growth requires learning, discipline, perseverance, and a willingness to improve ourselves each day.

We believe that every person is born with immeasurable value—a heart of gold—yet each of us benefits from continual growth throughout our lives. By learning, serving others, and developing our talents, we become stronger individuals, better parents, better neighbors, and stronger communities.

At Chasten Gold, we encourage people of all ages to embrace lifelong learning, personal responsibility, and community service. Whether we are helping someone find stable housing, teaching environmental health, supporting a child through literacy, or connecting a family to critical resources, our goal is the same: to help people become who they are capable of becoming.

Our name serves as a daily reminder that meaningful change begins within ourselves and grows outward into our families, neighborhoods, and communities.

Our History

The foundation of Chasten Gold was built long before its official incorporation. For more than twenty years, our founders dedicated themselves to serving local communities through volunteerism, educational outreach, mentorship, and advocacy.

Recognizing the growing need for organized, community-driven solutions, Chasten Gold officially became a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2019 (FEIN: 84-2404682).

Since then, our organization has expanded its work to include:

  • Environmental justice and Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) programs

  • Community outreach and educational workshops

  • Family literacy and youth engagement initiatives

  • Housing and resource navigation

  • Workforce development and career readiness

  • Volunteerism and civic engagement

  • Community partnerships with public agencies, nonprofits, and local organizations

As the needs of California communities continue to evolve, so does our commitment to providing accessible resources and creating opportunities that empower individuals and families to thrive.

Looking Ahead

Chasten Gold is growing beyond a traditional nonprofit organization. Our vision is to become one of California's leading community resource hubs, a place where individuals can find trusted information, educational opportunities, volunteer experiences, environmental advocacy, and essential services all in one place. We believe that lasting change happens when communities come together to educate, support, and uplift one another. Every workshop, every partnership, every volunteer, and every family we serve brings us one step closer to a healthier, more equitable future.
